On June 26, 2004 The San Diego Union Tribune reported, "City Councilman Tom D'Agosta is breathing new life into a proposal for a Tibetan Buddhist temple in a northeast Escondido neighborhood, saying he would favor it under certain conditions. D'Agosta says he would change his vote against the plan as long as a conditional-use permit for the temple expires if the property is sold. He said he fears that a new owner might come in with a larger, more disruptive church. On Wednesday, the City Council denied an appeal by the applicant, Beth Howie, to build the temple on a 2½-acre parcel on the north end of Sheridan Place, north of Sheridan Avenue and west of Vista Verde Drive."
