Two oncologists and their families gathered yesterday to pray where the doctors soon will treat people with cancer.

They took part in a Hindu tradition, the puja ceremony, to bless a new space.

Invoking positive energy will help make the Mark H. Zangmeister Center a place of healing, said Sree Aswath, who performed the ceremony.

Doctors at the Zangmeister Center, built by Mid Ohio Oncology/Hematology, will start seeing patients on May 29, said executive director Glenn Balasky, who attended the puja.

Drs. Kothai Sundaram and Taral Patel asked for the ceremony. Along with their spouses and children, they set up an altar in the corner of what will soon be the staff cafeteria in the building off Cassady Avenue near Port Columbus.
