On May 25, 2003 the Connecticut Post reported that "located on the backside of a strip mall, the [new Buddhist activity center] is the first and only structure of its kind in Connecticut, according to administrators... 'We searched for a place based upon membership,' said Diane Platt, a region leader and team coordinator... A grand opening was held Jan. 26. First Selectman Mitchell Goldblatt participated in the ceremony and welcomed the center to the area... 'The town of Orange has a number of places of worship representing many religious backgrounds and cultures,' Goldblatt said recently. 'Certainly, this adds to that sort of diversity and shows that Orange is a welcoming place for people of all backgrounds.'"
