North Carolina U.S. Rep. Sue Myrick says she wants to embrace “mainstream Muslims” while fighting extremism and plans to schedule a town hall meeting with the Charlotte Muslim community.
The Charlotte Observer reported the Republican from Charlotte pledged Monday to hold the town hall meeting.
Myrick serves on the House Intelligence Committee. She has worked to raise awareness about what she calls “homegrown” terrorism among some Muslims in the United States while stressing she isn’t attacking the Muslim religion.
