On March 17, 2006 SikhNet News reported, "500 Christian, Jewish, Muslim, and Sikh protestors came together in front of Capitol Hill on Monday to stand in solidarity for peace in Iraq. '[Guru Amardas jee] asks for the strength and compassion to understand God’s will. He further states that for us to create peace in the world, we must create peace within ourselves,' stated Prabhjit Singh of the National Gurdwara, reading a translation from the Shri Guru Granth Sahib. These words came only days after the body of Tom Fox [was] found in Iraq... Rally protestors... promised to become 'peacemakers' in a world of violence. They asked for true peace to occur in Iraq, and repeated in unison 'Gracious God, hear our prayer.' This vigil was on the last day of a conference that was taking place nearby, the theme of which was 'Challenging Disparity: The Power of God – the Power of Solidarity.' During this conference... solutions to the largest issues across the world, including the war in Iraq [were discussed.] The vigil was co-sponsored by Ecumenical Advocacy Days, National Sikh Gurdwara, Union for Reform Judaism, The Interfaith Alliance, Unitarian Universalist Assoc., and Muslim Public Affairs Council."
