On May 6, 2003 the Muslim Public Affairs Council reported that "the Southern California Muslim community and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (also know as the Mormons or LDS) have joined forces to assemble 10,000 personal hygiene kits to be shipped to the families of Iraq... The initiative, called 'Project Iraqi Relief', will bring together members of the Mormon and Muslim communities to assemble 10,000 personal hygiene kits consisting of soaps, towels, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and combs, among other items. The components are being provided through the LDS Church's world-wide Humanitarian Aid Department, but the assembly of the materials will be done jointly."
