On May 8, 2006 a Muslim American Society press release reported, "Muslim American Society (MSA) Freedom Foundation, together with the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), joined forces today in a press conference protesting Wachovia Bank’s refusal to explain why it closed in January 2006 the bank accounts of a small Muslim social service organization in Herndon, VA. The two organizations said they would give the bank two weeks to rectify the situation or provide a satisfactory explanation as to why it took its action before taking further measures against the bank. These measures could include direct action campaigns and a call for a nationwide boycott against Wachovia. FAITH, (the Foundation for Appropriate and Immediate Temporary Help), is a charity that provides assistance to needy individuals and families and to victims of domestic violence within the Northern Virginia area. The organization serves people of all faiths and ethnicities."
