On September 21, 2001, The Toronto Sun reported that Yusuf Islam (the former Cat Stevens), responded to the terror attacks by saying "'We should make it clear that such acts of horrific carnage ... have nothing to do with the beliefs of most Muslims. The Koran specifically declares: 'If anyone murders an (innocent) person ... it will be as if he has murdered the whole of humanity.' He targeted extremists who take the Koran out of context."
