On June 29, 2001, The Washington Post reported that "about two dozen Muslim community leaders walked out of a White House briefing in protest... after a member of their group, a congressional intern, was summoned from the meeting by a security guard and escorted out of the building." The student's father "is head of the National Coalition to Protect Political Freedoms, which is challenging the government's use of secret evidence to detain immigrants, many of them Muslim, who are suspected of links to terrorist activities."
