On January 18, 2002, The Columbus Dispatch reported that "The Columbus Jewish Foundation has given the Islamic Center, 1428 E. Broad St., a Shalom Grant as a token of support for the center, which was vandalized last month. 'We hope that this fosters positive relations between the Jewish community and those from all walks of life, and that it enables us to collaborate as children of God in fulfilling our responsibility to repair the world,' said Dr. Bernard Abrams, chairman of the foundation's social justice committee."
