On June 18, 2006 The Valley News reported, "More than 100 people attended the Southwest Riverside County Interfaith Council first annual Interfaith Picnic Saturday, June 3. Held in Murrieta at the Washington Picnic Pavilion of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, dinner was potluck. Activities included musical presentations, games and youth of different faiths talking about activities they do in their churches. 'The picnic was great,' said Jodi Fielding of the Temecula Christian Science Society. 'Whenever denominations can come together to break barriers and create a unified spirit, healing is accomplished.' Fielding said she was particularly impressed with the presentations given by the youth. 'Their cooperative spirit and love for church activity clearly showed their desire to express divine Spirit,' Fielding continued. 'I am sure the camaraderie and joy they expressed with each other will bless each of them in their experience, especially when they come into contact with those of varying faiths.' The Interfaith Council, a body of faith-based community representatives open to all who seek to unite in mutual support, study, dialogue and action, meets the second Thursday of every month." Members from the Baha'i, Jewish, Muslim, Methodist, Greek Orthodox, United Church of Christ, and Unity faith communities were also present.
