On March 28, 2005 the Sikh News Network reported, "Miami-Dade police still has no suspects in the senseless murder of 42-year-old Gurdeep Singh who died last month when two masked robbers held up the convenience store where he was working. Surveillance cameras showed Gurdeep Singh had his hands up in the air when he was shot. The robbers did not take much; only about a hundred dollars were in the register. After they shot Gurdeep Singh, the two casually lingered around the store looking for something to take, a close relative told SikhNN. What they did not know was that Gurdeep Singh had just been paid a few thousand dollars in cash which was still in his wallet. Gurdeep Singh immigrated to the US eight years ago with his family. He settled in the Miami area where he had a large extended family. Even with a college degree from India, he worked two jobs here to support his family. Gurdeep Singh left behind a wife and two sons, eleven and fourteen."
