MD County Council Bans Meetings on Jewish and Muslim Holidays

On November 11, 2004 Associated Press reported, "the Howard County Council this month banned public hearings on two Islamic holidays and two Jewish holidays. The legislation was introduced by Ken Ulman and passed unanimously on Nov. 1. It bars the council from scheduling public hearings on Eid ul-Fitr and Eid ul-Adha, as well as on Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur... The Council on American-Islamic Relations in Washington praised the action."
