On March 9, 2005 The Jerusalem Post reported, "Rivka and Srulik – the new Barbie and Ken of the haredi world – own no skimpy bathing suits or flashy rock star outfits... Sandwiched between an electric flour-sifter that removes bugs and an embroidered casing with which to camouflage one's phone on Shabbat, Rivka and Srulik – the latest hit among haredi children – were part of a wide range of objects and gadgets displayed Monday at a conference titled 'Haredim in Israel 2005: Between Conservatism and Innovation, the Marketing and Advertising Angle.' Organized by the Israel Management Center, the conference, which took place at the Sheraton City Tower in Ramat Gan, brought representatives of such companies as El Al, the Barak phone company and Maccabi Health Services into contact with business, media, advertising and entertainment executives from the haredi world."
