Twenty-five people escaped a fire last night which broke out in a five-storey building on Jalan Raja Alang belonging to a Sikh temple.

Fifteen people were treated at Kuala Lumpur Hospital for minor burns suffered in the fire, which destroyed the fourth and fifth floors of Wisma Tatt Khalsa.

The building houses offices and a hostel which is occupied by 30 students and foreigners working here.

Federal Territory Fire and Rescue Department director Mohd Hamdan Wahid said a skylift had to be used to rescue the people, aged between 20 and 50, who were trapped on the fifth floor of the building.
