On June 16, 2005 This Is Cornwall reported, "The night sky will be lit up this weekend when a pagan festival is revived. At one time huge fires were lit during the summer solstice to celebrate the sun at the height of its power and to encourage good harvests. All over Cornwall fires would have been ablaze on every hill and peak. Now Colliford Lake Park on Bodmin Moor is staging a revival of the pagan tradition by lighting a huge tiered bonfire on Saturday evening as part of a midsummer music and burning spectacular over June 18 and 19. The fire will be surrounded by sculptures created by local artist Robert Bradford and they will be illuminated by the giant bonfire. Celebrations will continue on the Sunday with a circus skills workshop and all sorts of stalls and other activities in addition to live musical entertainment."
