On March 31, 2006 SikhNet News reported, "Common Peace, Center for the Advancement of Nonviolence and Agape International Spiritual Center, will honor the accomplishments of Krishan Kaur with the Hero Award on Sunday, April 2, 2006... The Hero Award is given as a part of The Season for Nonviolence campaign, a 64-day campaign each year co-produced by [the Common Peace center] to honor our local heroes. The 64 days represent the number of days between the memorial (death) dates of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mahatma Gandhi. Each week during the 64 day Season for Nonviolence, someone who is taking action to make a difference in the community is honored. Krishna Kaur is a phenomenal woman with a spiritual vision. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Krishna has been teaching the art of Kundalini Yoga and Self Awareness to the Greater Los Angeles community since 1970. She is a natural teacher who has shared the art and science of yoga with therapists, entertainers, executives, students, at-risk youth, teachers, seniors, pregnant mothers, inmates and drug rehabilitation clients. She is the founder of Your Own Greatness Affirmed (Y.O.G.A. Inc), Inc., which is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization dedicated to establishing Yoga based programs in under-served communities around the world."
