On June 10, 2003 The Modesto Bee reported that "the city of Lathrop [CA] has passed a resolution deploring hatred and crimes targeting members of the Sikh community. Lathrop's Sikhs asked city officials for such a resolution after suffering racial and religious attacks after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. No one was physically injured, but the comments caused emotional pain, Sikh community member Sonny Dhaliwal said... Sikh community leaders said they will ask Modesto, Manteca, Stockton, Lodi and Sacramento to pass similar resolutions."
