On July 22, 2004 Oregonian reported, "A Muslim-Jewish planning group works to build understanding. Planners hope a September arts program will help members of both faiths learn about each other... Formed in December 2003, the group's goal is simple: to build understanding between Jewish and Muslim people. With members from the South Metro Jewish Congregation, the Jewish congregation Shir Tikvah, Bilal Mosque and the Muslim Educational Trust -- the group will have its first public event in September. The arts program for 30 children ages 7-13 will explore similarities and differences between the two faiths on Sept. 19 and 26, Jeral said. So far, the group has met seven times and will meet again to discuss plans in mid-August."
