French Jewish groups and police say a man wearing a yarmulke, or skullcap, has been stabbed and beaten in eastern France.
Jewish groups say Friday's assault in the city of Strasbourg appears to be an anti-Semitic attack.
Police say they took two suspects into custody, both of whom have a history of psychiatric problems. The victim was hospitalized for injuries to the head, back and shoulders.
