On April 11, 2005 the Middle East Times reported, "Israeli police prevented right-wing Jewish extremists from staging a rally at Jerusalem's disputed Al Aqsa mosque compound on April 10 with some 3,000 officers throwing a ring of steel around the sacred site. The ultranationalist Revava group had called for mass prayers at the compound to denounce the planned evacuation this summer of the 8,000 Jewish settlers from the Gaza Strip. Twenty-two Jewish Israelis, including Revava leader Israel Cohen, were briefly detained as they tried to hold their protest, which soon fizzled out amid the overwhelming police presence. The contested mosque compound in Jerusalem, which is called Haram Al Sharif (Noble Sanctuary) by Muslims, shelters the Dome of the Rock (Omar Mosque) and the Al Aqsa Mosque."
