BahÃ¥’í Day in Jamaica is observed annually on 25 July, but when former Governor General of Jamaica, Sir Howard Cooke, first proclaimed Baha’i Day fours years ago, Baha’is in Jamaica had no idea it would become an annual event.

Proclaimed in July 2003 as part of the sixtieth (60th) anniversary celebrations of the establishment of the Faith in Jamaica, Baha’is soon discovered that once the proclamation has been made by Kings House, it becomes a permanent feature of the island.

This year, Bahá’í Day (Wednesday, 25 July) will be observed with a weeklong exhibition at the Bahá’í National Centre at 208 Mountain View Avenue in Kingston, beginning Monday, July 23, 2007. The exhibition will highlight the introduction, growth and contributions of the Faith in Jamaica, and will be opened to the public each day from 10am. In addition, members of the National Spiritual Assembly will also pay a courtesy call on current Governor General, Professor Kenneth Hall on Monday, July 23.
