The Islamic Society of Milwaukee, which suspended participation in the area's largest interfaith group over an incident late last year, said it will return to the organization and begin talks aimed at ensuring such slights don't occur in the future.

The society, which represents about 15,000 Muslims, distanced itself from the Interfaith Conference of Greater Milwaukee in November over its exclusion from a trip to Israel funded by a Jewish organization that also belongs to the conference.

Talks are expected to focus on how the interfaith group is structured and who is included in discussions at various levels, not the political disagreements between Muslims and Jews that underlay the controversy.
