International Symposium on Lao Zi, Founder of Taoism, to be Held in his Hometown

On October 21, 2005 Xinhua reported, "An international symposium on Lao Zi, founder of Taoism, will be held from Nov. 10 to 12 in Luyi County of central China's Henan Province, hometown of the ancient Chinese philosopher. The symposium is jointly sponsored by the Representative Office of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organizations (UNESCO) in China, the Institute of Philosophy with the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Zhoukou City Government and will be organized by Luyi County. More than 90 specialists from the United States, Canada, Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK) will attend the three-day event, which features the theme of 'Nature, Harmony and Development'. During the symposium, participants will discuss the impact of Taoism on social development and human progress, and the harmony between man and nature."
