On November 15, 2004 The Sacramento Bee reported, "hundreds of teenagers, representing multiple faiths, last week joined forces in Citrus Heights (CA) to assemble hygiene kits for families of refugees and disaster victims throughout the world. The multicultural Youth for a Better Understanding organized the effort, called the Helping Hands Service Project. The program was hosted on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings by the Citrus Heights Stake, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Van Maren Lane."
