On March 14, 2004 The Age reported, "The Hindu Shiva-Vishnu Temple...in Carrum Downs was first stop on a tour of faiths by eight police officers and 18 local government officers last week...The tour came in the same week the State Government said it was looking at ways to improve funding arrangements with Victoria's 79 local councils to ensure better services for migrant communities. A report co-ordinated by the Victorian Multicultural Commission had suggested that state and local government consider a joint funding program...The tour had set out in two vans on a 60-kilometre journey to visit Hindu, Greek Orthodox, Buddhist and Muslim centres among 101 places of worship in the City of Greater Dandenong...The tours are a way of 'creating better understanding of the contribution by various faiths here,' said Interfaith Network president Arvind Shrivasta, 59, a retired Monash University engineering lecturer. The Interfaith tour is available to the public bi-monthly."
