On July 6, 2006 a CAIR Press Release reported, "Faith leaders and advocates from San Diego and other Southern California cities conducted an interfaith service in front of the Imperial Beach Border Patrol Station in response to a closed-door House Immigration Hearing. The sub-committee conducting the hearings invited groups such as the Friends of the Border Patrol, an organization known for its border vigilantism. The San Diego chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR-San Diego), Interfaith Committee for Worker Justice (ICWJ), and Service Employees International Union (SEIU) were among the faith and advocacy groups who participated in the multi-faith prayer service."
