On September 18, 2004 The Hartford Courant reported, "marking the third anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, representatives from nine religious faiths will gather Sunday at Emanuel Synagogue in West Hartford for the third annual interreligious prayer service for remembrance and peace. The first service, held at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Hartford three days after the 2001 attacks, was one of the largest interreligious gatherings in the state's history. Since then, leaders from the Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Jain, Buddhist, Baha'i and Unitarian-Universalist faiths have come together each year to remember the victims and pray for peace."
