The Women Inter-Religious Dialogue and Ecumenism (WIDE), a women’s forum of the National Commission for Inter-Religious Dialogue and Ecumenism (NCIDE), was launched on Wednesday.
The forum organised an iftar-dinner on its opening day, which was attended by Christians, Bahais, Hindus, Sikhs and Parsis.
Father Morris Jalal, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, Sardar Bishan Singh, Pandit Bhagat Lal, Fareeba Kharoobi and Anila Massey prayed for peace and harmony. Participants included Dr Mubashir, Javaid William, Rabia Moazzam, Beenish, Sunny Kumar and Arifa Shakeel. A documentary on WIDE’s working was also screened.
WIDE president Suneela Javaid said interfaith dialogue meant working together and creating an understanding through discussion. She said the forum was a group of workingwomen who wanted a platform to listen and communicate on national and international issues with respecting each other’s opinion. She said participation by women from different religious backgrounds would enrich the dialogue process.
