Next week, a Catholic cardinal will speak at a Miami Beach synagogue — and the amazing thing is, that's not news.
The news is that interfaith gatherings have increased in recent years around South Florida. Drawn by belief or curiosity, or driven by emergencies, more people are seeking out those who are unlike them, activists say.
"I think the interest is sharpening," says Cardinal William H. Keeler of Baltimore, who will speak Tuesday at Temple Beth Sholom. "I'm getting reports from across the country, of a growing interest in interfaith work. There are more activities, and they're bringing in more people."
