On August 15, 2005 the Cihan News Agency reported, "A symposium titled, 'Peace, tolerance and harmony among world religions,' was held in New Delhi Sunday by the 'Inter Faith Harmony Platform,' which was established by Indian Muslims. Many representatives from different religions participated in the symposium that was held for the first time in India. Indian deputy Karan Singh, who was the honorary guest at the meeting, emphasized that peace in the world can only be maintained through these kinds of gatherings and through dialogue among religions. Organization Chairman Khwaja Iftihkar Ahmed said they were proud of being a platform initiating dialogue in India. Many Muslim men of religion along with many representatives from Jain, Bahai, Zoroastrianism, and Christian religions also participated in the symposium, in which Swami Dayanand Saraswati represented Hinduism, Sardar Tarcholan Singh represented the Sikh religion, Ezra Moses represented the Indian Jews and Dr. Hsin Tao represented Buddhism. The leaders came together following the meeting and planted a 'harmony tree.' In the frame of the organization, peace, tolerance and harmony awards were presented to the Dalai Lama, Ravi Shankar and Jimmy Carter through their representatives for their contributions to peace."
