On September 15, 2006 The Hillsboro Argus reported, "'Festival of Faith: A celebration of the great world religions' will be Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Portland state University's Smith Center Ballroom. Keynote speaker will be David W. McCreery, professor of religious studies at Willamette University. The event is sponsored by the Interfaith Council of Greater Portland. To promote peace between world religions, the festival will consist of a full day of 101-style workshops, booths representing various faith organizations, food and entertainment. Representatives of various world religions will present seminars and be available for questions. This personal contact with people of different faiths is an effort to develop on-going relationships for future interaction, organizers said. Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon is a statewide association of 16 Christian denominations including Protestant, Roman Catholic and Orthodox bodies working together to improve the lives of Oregonians through community ministry programs, ecumenical and interreligious dialogue, environmental ministry and public policy advocacy."
