Interfaith Conference to Promote Moderation and Counter Extremism

On December 5, 2004 reported, "Religious leaders from Asia and the Pacific will meet in Indonesia on Monday, December 5, to promote moderation and counter extremism. The two-day meeting -- the International Dialogue on Interfaith Cooperation -- is being co-hosted by Australia and Indonesia in tandem with the Muhammadiyah, Indonesia’s second largest Islamic organization with some 30 million members, reported Agence France-Presse (AFP). Representatives from the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and East Timor are expected to attend the conference in the central Java city of Yogyakarta."
