On August 12, 2003 The Columbus Dispatch reported that "when it comes to the causes of violence in today's world, Paul Knitter thinks, religion is one of the culprits... Now it is time for religion to be part of the solution in making the world more peaceful, he said... Knitter, an author and expert in interreligious efforts, was the keynote speaker yesterday during the annual conference of the North American Interfaith Network, being held at Ohio State University... Interreligious efforts should be aimed at easing suffering, he said."
