Indians Comprise Second Largest Immigrant Group

On July 16, 2003 Indo Link reported that "Indian immigrants, numbering over seventy thousand, comprised the second largest immigrant group to the United States in 2002, the U.S. Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services (BCIS) said in a report released Tuesday. BCIS was previously known as the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (INS)... A total of 1.063 million people migrated to the United States last year, it said... The highest number of immigrants came from Mexico, with 219,380, followed by India with 71,105 immigrants. China which was ahead of India in previous years, came third with 61,282 imigrants in 2002."
