On November 10, 2004 the Vancouver Sun reported, "Imagine Halloween, Christmas and New Year's Eve rolled into one and you have an idea of the importance of this weekend for British Columbia's 210,000-strong Indo-Canadian community. For children of all ages, Friday brings Diwali... The festivities continue through Saturday and Sunday to celebrate the biggest Muslim events of the year, Ramadan and Ehid. In Vancouver's Little India, on Main Street between 48th and 51st, the Punjabi Market Association is organizing Friday night fireworks and live music and dancing between noon and 6pm on each of the three days on a main stage at 50th Avenue. For merchants, like Kewal Pabla, who will sell hundreds of pounds of home-made sweets at Main Street's Himalaya Restaurant, it is a time of 'good business and lots of very hard work.'"
