The News India Times reported that "the organizing committee of the 11th annual Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival in New York has announced that this year’s competition, scheduled for Aug. 11 and 12, will have the largest number of participants in the festival’s history...For 10 years, the celebration has attracted a culturally diverse audience of more than 30,000 from across North America...The event will be held at Meadow Lake in Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens, a New York City borough, which is home to a large number of Indians and other South Asians. Many desis are expected to participate in the event."
