On March 8, 2004 the Appeal- Democrat reported, "For ages, Hindus have held to their faith and rituals, and members of the Mid-Valley Hindu community continue to do so at the Sri Narayan Hindu Temple on Franklin Road in Yuba City. Saturday, the faithful held a dual celebration of the temple's eighth anniversary and the festival of Holi, an Indian holiday." The celebrations are held in memory of Kushlia Devi, an immigrant from India who had hoped to create a place for local Hindus to worship. She died before the temple was completed.
