Hundreds of people were covered with a rainbow of colors from India last Sunday as the Hindu community welcomed spring with its annual Holi Festival.

Even though organizers ordered four times more colored powder than last year, the powder thrown at and by festival goers still ran out by 2:45 p.m. But the partying still went on till 4 p.m., as an estimated 9,000 festival goers danced to Bollywood music, ate Indian food and watched classical Indian dances.

At the peak of the Holi celebration, organizers Sunil and Sandhua Thakkar danced at the side of the stage celebrating the successful turnout.

“Holi to us Indians signifies the victory of good over evil. This colorful festival bridges the social gap and renews sweet relationships,” said Swapan Dhairyawan, vice president of the India Culture Center.
