On September 14, 2003 The Tennessean reported that "hundreds of people from different backgrounds, creeds and religions gathered yesterday at the Sri Ganesha Temple on Old Hickory Boulevard for the Indian Association of Nashville's annual Indian Festival. This was the third year members of the Hindu temple opened their doors to the community, and close to 2,000 people were expected to be in attendance before the day was over...'This was good for our children that were born in the United States to learn about the different states also,' said Jayesh Patel, vice president of the association. 'We want people to come and enjoy themselves and learn more about the Indian community at the same time.'"
