On Saturday, the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS), a socio-spiritual o rganization based on Hindu principles, will join the global community in commemorating the International Women's Day while hosting its third annual women's conference.

An annual celebration held by the United Nations, this day recognizes the achievements of women around the world.

Initiated in 2007, this annual conference gathers women from the South Asian community in New Jersey to celebrate their achievements and discuss avenues for contributing to the community.

This year's theme of Nurturing Families, Shaping Communities is centered on the phenomenal impact created by the global community of women in the educational and environmental sectors through their pivotal roles in family and society.

The theme draws inspiration from BAPS' core values of nurturing individuals and creating stronger families. A nurtured individual flourishes in her family and community, and she creates a positive impact on the world around her, Twisha Mehta, organizer of the conference, said.
