On September 15, 2005 SikhNet reported, "A history of sorts will be scripted when Guru Granth Sahib will be carried in a gold palanquin from New Delhi to Nankana Sahib in Pakistan by covering more than 700 km, the longest religious procession after the Partition. The palanquin is being prepared with more than 15 kg of gold to be fitted on the teak wood. The palanquin, being prepared under the supervision of Baba Amrik Singh, will be installed at Gurdwara Nankana Sahib, the birthplace of Guru Nanak Dev."
