GREENWOOD, Ind. (Map, News) - Central Indiana's third Sikh temple might open by the end of the month to serve a growing population of adherents in Indianapolis' southern suburbs.

Pending approval from the Greenwood Board of Zoning Appeals, the temple would occupy a home on a 4-acre site. The board is due to vote on the matter Monday.

Chanchal Singh, who applied last month for a zoning exemption for the temple, said the site was chosen because of its near a subdivision where about 100 Sikh families live.
