On May 6, 2005 The Tribune reported, "The Government of India would issue a commemorative postage stamp to mark the 400 years of the installation of Guru Granth Sahib. In a press note issued by the SGPC here today, it was stated that the stamp was likely to be issued on the martyrdom anniversary of Guru Arjan Dev on June 16 here. The Director of Postal Services, Punjab Circle, Ms Sukhwinder Kaur, today met SGPC President Bibi Jagir Kaur and sought consent for the date and venue for releasing the stamp."
