First Chinese-Taiwanese Forum on Taoism Opens at Chinese Taoist Shrine

On October 21, 2005 Xinhua reported, "The First Forum on Taoism across the Taiwan Straits kicked off Friday at Mount Longhu (Dragon and Tiger), a Taoist shrine in Yingtan City, in east China's Jiangxi Province. Zhang Sheng, director of the Taiwan Taoist Association, said the forum will strengthen exchanges among Taoists from across the Taiwan Straits. While Zhang Jiyu, vice president of the China National Taoist Association, said the forum will help rejuvenate and carry forward traditional Chinese Taoist culture. More than 200 noted Taoists and specialists, including 150 from Taiwan, will attend the three-day forum, which was approved by the State Administration of Religious Affairs and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council."
