An event to promote peace and pay tribute to the armed forces is coming to Tyneside.

Hundreds of people will come together with civic, faith and military leaders to recognise the service and sacrifice at a conference at Newcastle Civic Centre next month.

Servicemen who have recently come back from Afghanistan will be on hand to give first-hand accounts of their time abroad.

Representatives from the Christian, Hindu, Jewish, Buddhist, and Sikh faiths will come together to pray in their own traditional way for world peace.
