For Linda Sonner, green living and her Christian faith have long been linked.

But it wasn't until two years ago that the Batavia woman and a few friends started a campaign to convince other people of faith - no matter if their belief lies in Christianity or another religion - that spiritual lives should be environmentally friendly lives.

Sonner, who leads the environmental task force at her church, Fox Valley Presbyterian Church in Geneva, is the coordinator of the Spiritual Green Connection, an interfaith group that promotes green living in faith communities throughout the suburbs. The organization sends out a "conservation tip of the month" that ends up in the bulletins and newsletters of more than 20 worship centers in the suburbs.
