On February 12, 2003 The Houston Chronicle reported that "the president of the Islamic Society of Greater Houston told thousands of Muslims on Tuesday that being a good Muslim is about being a good parent, neighbor and citizen... 'Being a good Muslim is about being a good human being,' Aziz Siddiqi said at a celebration of Eid Ul-Adha, the Feast of Sacrifice. 'It's about quietly going through your life in a way that people of other faiths can admire and want to imitate...' More than 10,000 Houston Muslims converged on the George R. Brown Convention Center for a prayer service Tuesday morning that was part of a worldwide Islamic celebration. The joyous occasion, one of two mandatory Muslim feast days, celebrates Abraham's sacrifice of a ram instead of his son, Ismail, at the command of God."
