For the first time, a key meeting of the Democratic Party in the US state of Nevada began with Hindu prayers and verses from ancient scriptures such as the Upanisad, Bhagavad-Gita and the Rig-Veda.

Hindu priest Rajan Zed recited Gayatri and other mantras in Sanskrit and then explained their meaning in English at the opening of Nevada State Democratic Party's Central Committee meeting.
