Russians are celebrating the national holiday “Surhaban” in Saint Petersburg. “Surhaban” translates to “the three husbands’ game”. Traditionally, the event includes wrestling, archery, and horse jumping.

The celebration is held to mark a decade of Buddhist culture and is aimed at the preservation of local tradition.

[Randito, Russian Buddhist Leader]: “When our Buddhists participate in these three types of sports... it’s not just the sport, but also has a profound spiritual meaning.”

The main attraction of the celebration is the sports competition. Athletes represent various nationalities.
